🎙️ Gayà: "It's going to be difficult, so we have to be more united than ever. I'm sure that we will be prepared to reach our goal"
José Luis Gayà speaks for everyone when he says that the Valencia CF squad are keen to get back started in LaLiga. Ahead of the return to competition against Levante UD, the fullback conversed with VCF Media.
"We're waiting very anxiously and with a lot of excitement. It's going to be difficult after so long without playing a game, but that's going to be the same for both teams. Even though we've played practice games amongst the squad, it's not the same as a LaLiga game -which is the highest level of competition- against opposition like Levante, who will make things very difficult," he said on Saturday after an intense training session.
"I think that in the first few games back, the advantage will be with the team who have prepared best. We've done a good job, both in the phase in which we were in our homes individually, and now that we are back as a group. We've done a very good job and we hope to be in the best shape possible."
As for the first game up, Gayà comments that derbies are always big occasions -even without fans in attendance.
"Derbies are a special experience, and the fans have something to do with that. It's different for them. It's going to be strange without them there, but we have to adapt. We have no alternative but to play behind closed doors. That's what we have to do. I hope that we can start this 'new' league season taking the 3 points."
We have to win many games. We have to try to win all of the games that we have at Mestalla, and then away from home we need to try to get as many points as we can. It's the final 11 games, and it's the 'beautiful' stage of the season now, when everything is decided. We have to treat them like 11 finals; if we want to get into the Champions League, we have to win a lot of games. We need to take things game-by-game. It's a cliché, but it's also the reality. It's how we need to face things, and we're going to put ourselves to the test. We have a deep squad and players from the youth teams coming up to help us and training well. Every player is going to be important in the remaining 11 games. It's going to be difficult, so we have to be more united than ever. I'm sure that we will be prepared to reach our target."
